Dan steps out of the mist and sees a familiar flash of speckled gray. He calls out "Samson?"
The dog turns, "There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you!"
Dan drops to his knees and buries his face in Samson's fur, while the dog happily licks Dan's arms and face.
Samson starts jumping on his back legs. "This is the best place, Dad! Come on, let me show you around." Samson starts to run ahead, then looks back as Dan stands up.
"Whoa -- not so fast. I'm still figuring out how to use these wings." Dan notices Samson excitedly prancing in place and remembers something. "What about your arthritis? Does it still hurt you?"
Smiling a dog smile, Samson replies: "Nah, you'll see -- nothing hurts here."

I like this image a lot. I've imagined something similar but I also see Dan pickin' with Jerry Garcia and Vassar Clements (and maybe Bill Monroe sits in on a few) while his dad and my grandfather watch the show!
